The Notebook book by Nicholas Sparks Review

The Notebook book by Nicholas Sparks

It is surely not easy to define the word love. Love is a blessing and the only thing in which the miracle truly occurs.

The Notebook is a novel book of Nicholas Spark that is all about love and its miracles. It's the first published novel by Nicholas Sparks. This book had sold more than 105 million copies worldwide and had been translated into more than 50 languages.

The story begins with an old man who is walking towards another room and carrying a notebook in his hand. When he arrived in the room, there were two nurses already present and helping an old but beautiful lady. Her beauty at this age was a clue of her being extremely gorgeous at her early age. He settled himself on a chair while the nurses went out of the room. The beautiful queen stared at him and seemingly not identifying the man sitting in front of her. He opened the notebook and started reading the same story he was sharing with her for a long period.

The story was about a man named Noah who failed to escape from his memories and was hijacked by his thoughts. He was unable to think about the love of his life but was convinced he will never find those unforgettable moments of that summer again. But the past one more time turned into the present. The love of his life Allie came back after 14 years but the climax of the story was that she was engaged to a good settlement lawyer named Lon. It has been very heartbreaking for Noah to hear these all. The memories of summer were renewed as if their love was a rebirth. Allie was compelled to sustain the relationship with Lon as it was the wish of her parents. As she said, " That status is more important than feelings." Noah smiled softly at her answer. But destiny did not accept it and went out of their anticipations. Now it was the time for Allie to select one from Noah and Lon.

He closed the notebook and said they would complete the story in the evening however, during the dinner she said that she knew that girl had chosen Noah. He smiled and said yes, she had chosen him and they got married and had children as well. But the miracle happened when she called him Noah, so it is mean she remembered him again. The story he shared was his own story. He was Noah. Allie was affected by Alzheimer's disease. It is a type of dementia that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. Due to this terrible disease, she didn't remember anything even her name and Noah tried his best to remind her about their love so he used to tell her their life through the story but all were going in vain according to science. But no one has the power of stopping the miracles. Further, Noah was aware that this miracle can truly happen but unfortunately, she became the same as she was because of her disease. She started screaming and asking Noah who the hell was he. It was disappointing for him. He sat in a corner and then started crying. He was taken out of the room. But at night he couldn't control himself and reached Allie's room for wishing her their wedding anniversary. When he entered the room, she was sleeping so without making any noise he reached near to her and hugged her. Later he realized that he did a big mistake to touch her since she opened her eyes. Another miracle took place and she said" Noah! I've missed you."

This book was heart-touching. In the end, there was a smile on the reader's lips and tears in the eyes due to its tragedy. This book taught me about real love that is ever-lasting. There is no end to love.
